help with dragon tutorial

I created a plane and added the dragon image. Created new layer added image and set to R. After creating a sphere I chaged to side view but I only see the sphere no image plane. What am I doing wrong?

Are you using a polygon plane or an Image Plane. If its an image plane then you need to open up the attributes and set it to be able to be viewed from all cameras.
