Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

My first try at a realistic character

Hey geysuser added image

I'm taking a break from the strange world project. I thought a try at a realistic human would be a good Challenge for me.

I'm modeling a male character. I may need alot of help on this one, we'll see how it goes.

Heres the start of the haed.

C&C are always welcome!

Poly Patch Modelling, would love to see your progress on this. I'm yet to try a realistic character. What references are you using?

Cheers

Man I feel silly answering this question because you've done so much more than me and the fact that I'm probably the least qualified person to give an opinion on this.

Here it goes. I would have assumed you would have used a general reference image to assure you get the general shape right and from there, tweak the character to get the desired look.

A few days ago I downloaded as many face meshes as I could find. Hopefully I'll have a go at making one soon.

Cheers
Paul

BMS,

Thanks for your input:0

Well I do agree that a reference is a way to go. But I guess i'm just seen what I can do on my own. If it gets really bad or something then i'll start over or redo the my character with references.

I'm looking farward to your realistic humanuser added image

Heres a little update.

P.S. don't worry about if your qualified or not. Everyone learns from everyoneuser added image I've only been doing this stuff for 3 years.

The eye area looks like it goes in too far.

the checks look a bit shallow... how does the general curvature look from, say, the top view to a high angle view?
