How would you model a knot in maya?

you can either create the knot itself with a CV curve and then extrude a circle along it and then play with the shape of the circle to get the look you want (scale it up or down, squash it in one direction, etc.)...

or you could study the shape of the knot itself and break it up into pieces and model those pieces in polygons and then just push them up against one another til it looks like a knot.

Accept no substitutions.
