Thanks 13uRneR! user added image

Now it should look like this image (I hope you are following)
user added image

7. Now middle mouse button drag ramp over Surface Shader > Other > in the connection editor, connect Out Color to Out Color.

user added image

8. In your ramp attributes under ramp, set your colors that you want to use and set your Interpolation to none, to get that cartoon shader look.

user added image

9. Now to get that outline!

Go to your Shading Groups > find your SurfaceShader 1SG > in Attributes click on mental ray > contour shader to open up the mental ray materials.

user added image

10. in the mental ray materials click on contour_shader_simple

user added image

Now you should have a contour shader simple, set the Width to 0.050 (for the lines I have on my models) The higher the numer the wider the lines, the lower the thinner.

user added image

11. Now go to your render gobal> render using to mental ray. Set your min sample level to 1 and max sample level to 2.

Vedic, great look. Reminds of some of the work in Heavy Metal magazine.

I've never understood the appeal of wearing a thong... I've spent a good amount of my life trying to keep my undergarments from creeping up like that.

Notice you added some design to the face. So what's new with the helmeted guy and the giant robot?

Hey vedic,

Thanks for your reply, I'm using your Cell Shader... Followed your tutorial.

I think my image got lost when I was transfering my site to my new super duper server user added image

Anyway, heres the image again, My main concearn is that the toon edge (of which is shaded brown here and i've bumped up the size of it) is not deing anti-aliased very well, Maybe not as present in this image because of compression... but needless to say, the outline edge is very jagged, is there anything I can do/change?

user added image

Thanks in advanced...

WIP is looking awesome, love the concistancy of your work user added image

Jock.
