Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Not bad...but I also think it needs a lot of working on. I would recommend pulling a lot of those vertices and points to start tweaking up the model some more, particularly the eyes, nose, mouth, and chin. Also, try to eliminate that "ridge" on the forehead. I had that same problem too once on my head model...try pulling the points in that area back some more closer to the forehead, and then of course smooth the area....maybe that can eliminate it. It is just a suggestion, it worked for me. Good luck on that model! user added image

Definitely on the right track.

To respond to your initial post, when patch modeling, you do not attach the nurbs surfaces together. They remain seperated and you rely on a global stitch to keep them together, which can be difficult to work with.

I recomend doing as you have and convert to polys.

As for your current head, a couple things:

1) The ear looks like it's too far back and protruding out too much.
2) The nose doesn't have any nostrils
3) There doesn't appear to be much of a checkbone structure.
4) lips could use a little forming, and the corners of the mouth lack the folding skin that real faces have.

I highly recomend using photo references whenever possible.

Keep it up!

I have to agree with mtmckinley...I definately think the head could still use some more tweaking, particularly the nose and mouth. Also, the top of the head seems a little too "flat" to me...maybe try elongating it some more. You may want to use some references for help doing the nose and mouth.

Yea i second that. Ive always just been putting a nurbs sphere in the basic shape of the head and setting it to full transparency and then addding fur to that. But if you can do it to polys, im anxious to know
