Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

help me save rendering time please

Hi there,

I'm rendering a transparent material in front of an image plane displaying an image sequence, so the object will later in the compositing appear to be in the environment displayed on the image plane.
The image plane takes ages to render though. And I don't really want it to be displayed in the final image because I would have to key it out again. I really only need it for my transparent object being more believable. So my question is is it possible to tell maya to not actually render the image sequence, but only calculate the colour information it carries?
Please help if you know an answer, if you know there isn't let me know as well, so I won't die looking for it.

cheers
