This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Indeed!

Maybe some more texturing wouldent go amiss, and maybe some render work?

One thing that helps make the model look even better is to give it some lighting.

Unfortunately I haven't really done much texturing or rendering myself, so I am not much help, but I would definitely start with mtmkinley's free texturing basics tutorial on this site and then I would read as much as I can on the UV texture editor as this is what will help you texture your model.
