cant make my image a ref

i set up my refrance pictures, and i put it on to a layer and when i try to make it sort of transparent it doesnt do anything. please help me.

hi,

turning your layer to a reference does not affect the transparency of your objects. It just "locks" all the objects on your layer so you don't accidentaly select them.
To make stuff transparent you have to turn on your x-ray. You'll find it under the shading tab.
