Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Hello everyone! The last time I used Maya (4.5) and frequented this site was around 10 years ago. Currently in transition from my previous line of work into computer graphics. Took me 10 years to realize this is what I really want to do hehe.

Consider me a newbie, I have a lot to learn from all of you here and looking forward to it!

Hello everyone.. i have a problem in maya.. i cannot select objects in the front. if there is object/geometry behind an object and i try to select the object in the front it automatically selects the object in the back. but if there nothing behind the object to be selected then the selection is ok... same is the problem with faces.... i cannot select faces in the front..also faces are selected with a different angle. not from the front.

this is happening only in the perspective.

i ahve tried deleting preferences but not working.

i have tried back face culling but not working

kindly help me.....
((sorry if have posted my question in the wrong area))

Hi My Name is Clarke,

I work as a Tivoli Monitoring Specialist in Basingstoke. I amd 45, live in Fleet hampshire and have loved doing 3d for about 15 years as a hobby. Simply Maya is one of the best, if not "THE BEST" site I have come across.

Cheers Myth

Hello everyone! My name's Will. I'm not new to 3D, but I am completely new to Maya. I started out working with Poser and DAZ studio as kind of a hobby. It wasn't long before I moved into working with stronger 3D packages like Modo and Cinema 4D, but I've always been dissatisfied with missing this feature or that feature. So I finally gave in to my common sense and decided to give Maya a try.

I'll be perfectly honest. I'm more than a little intimidated. It seems the very thing that brought me here is also the reason I hesitated for so long. I wanted to do some really small scale animation projects and I'v always liked the stuff that you see online, but I wanted to do some things that really weren't possible in other applications without having to buy a thousand different plugins. While I really did enjoy C4D's interface, I found that it was lacking when it came to the things I wanted. I wanted to work with dynamic hair and clothing and Clothilde is really kind of klunky on that side of things. The hair system was okay, but I found myself longing for syflex, or qualoth, or apex cloth. Then my brother pointed out that if Maya already has those things --why not spend your time learning to use it instead of wishing you had this or that?

I'm not one to argue with Microft's logic, so here I am. user added image

Howdy folks!

My name is Dennis. I have been doing digital drawing and painting for a few years, but just recently I decided to get into 3D modeling as well (its the future! No questions about it). I have been doing some work with zbrush, but Maya seems to be a good program to learn as well. I look forward to becoming a dedicated member on this forum, and expect to see more of my Maya work soon! user added image

Hi everyone, I'm not really new, more like a Walking Dead as you can see from my joining date, but after leaving IT and computer graphics for over 9 yeas it feels like I'm completely new, I still remember some of the big players, is mtmckinley still around?

Hi guys, I'm Nudge to my mates. I'm from the Gold Coast, Australia.

I'm very new to Maya, but have some understanding on the basics.

My interests are in ArchViz and recently I started watching the tutorials on Spach-Alspaugh House and Environment presented by David James. I like his style of teaching and he makes it very easy to follow along. I hope there will be more tutorials like this in the future.

So, I look forward to sharing my creations and recreations with you and getting to know some of you over time.
