Problems with free texture tutorial

I have been working with maya for a year, and I've only focused on modeling and animation so far.

I decided to try the texture basics-tutorial, the free one.

The tutorial starts out with a door-model. Very simple model, and it took me ten minutes or so to build a similar one. The guy then says that he has taken the UV-coordinates, and put them into photoshop. I try to do the same thing, put when I open the UV texture editor, my UV's are all over the place. Its not like his at all.

Has anyone else experienced a similar thing? Or can anyone provide a solution? Kind of frustrating...

Its not a true problem, your door just isn't mapped yet -

you need to look up a tutorial on something called 'uv mapping'. Basically, you're going to end up moving all the uv coordinates into a reasonable shape. Hitting either Polygon Modeling -> Texturing -> Automap or Planarmap first will work best. Then you move the resulting map (and sewing them) as necessary. But, err... I'd reccommend trying a tutorial.

the uv mapping for the door has to be done.you better larn about before texturing ,because uv mapping is the base of texturing.

to know about uv mapping u could see or read some tutorials.

u try these sites out to get anything about uv mapping.

https://www.learning-maya.com/texturing.php#uv
https://www.mtmckinley.net/

they are very good tutorials . they give u a basic idea of uv mapping.
