Light with objects

Hello
I have a problem and i hope you can help me with it.
If i creat a spot light insida a cube.
So it points to a wall and then i cut out a form
in the side of the cube were light is pointing at.
How can i do so the light will go thru the form i have cut out
I mean if i have a light inside a cube and cut a hole in one of the sides and point the light at that hole how can i make the light go thru the hole.

For me the light dosnet work.
I hope you understand what i try to say.
I hope i get some answere to my problem.

you probably just need to turn on cast shadows under your light's settings to get it to work. you might also want to widen the angle of the light as well.

press 5, then 6 then 7 (7 shows the lighting in the scene .., no default lights.., but you must step through the numbers to 7)

if the object of the excersize is to change the shape of the light try barn doors in the light att ed this makes a spot light square

you dont have to.., it should show up in the render.., the viewpoint is not the same.., make sure all have cast shadows on.., or receive shadows for the objects

this is a render of the same scene with a cube between the window and plane to cast another shadow but with no barndoors

of course you can but its an extra step. anyway, its always good to probe answers, another day, another lesson.
