Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

ANATOMY STUDY TIME

Yup... time to pull it out, and really start to focus on the anatomy. Creature Busts are fine and dandy, but I really want/need to study anatomy a bit closer. I have several Burne Hogarth books, and I do anatomy Sketches, but Now It's time to incorporate ZB into this equation.

One problem that i have had is the fact that the Burne Hogarth books, and most anatomy references/guides seem to only show the Underlying anatomy, and not the surface anatomy.... they way you would see it in a real life.

I Don't know if any of you know/watch MMA (mixed martial arts). But If you ever, you will see what a gold mine it is for anatomical reference.

So, I'm going to sculpt a couple of bodies at extreme-ish posses.... Like a photo of a MMA fight. I have found TONS Of picture reference on the web, I also have my Burne books, not to mention tons of other sites.

Anyway, here goes:

In this one, the guy on the Left is mostly a study on Back, and shoulder anatomy (hence the pose). And the guy on the Right, is going to be a study in Chest and abdominal anatomy.

Each one was sculpted from the same base mesh. Just posed separately..... I think it was Steve that said the base mesh i built awhile back will come in handy.... he was right. user added image

STILL W.I.P:

Yeah, I know... the guy on the right isn't even started user added image

C&C welcome, and NEEDED.

Oh, and just so you know.... no symmetry is used while sculpting these... it's a pain sometimes, but it gives be twice as much to study.

@Coldwave: Thanks man!

@Chirone: Thanks... Yeah, I'm trying to go for a more natural look, and not a steroid enhanced one.

And yes..... I need to do something with the Tree Rumpf!

Thanks people

In your latest, his nipple looks a bit strange. I think even when someone is reaching over like that, there should still be a little bit of the pectoral still visible, as the muscle stretches, but doesn't disappear entirely. Right now it looks like his pectoral is blending with part of his rib cage.

Looking good mate, though I agree with Next, also the neck on the left, dunno don't look quite right, maybe its me? Looks bendy stretchedon the tendon, somtthing that I wouldent have thought??

Wish I could put that into the correct language!

@Mickeal_alex: Thanks man! I appreciate the comments. I will check out Zack's tuts for sure!

@NextDesign: Yes, your right about the nipple... it is too streched, someone had mentioned this over at CGTalk. I'm going to correct it.

Your right about his left Pec.... it does blend a tad bit too much, it needs some more volume at the bottom, but not much I can assure you... I have tons of reference. But I will be working on it some more. Thank you for your feedback! As I said, some of these points have been made by others, so there must be something that needs fixing. user added image

@Steve: Your are right about the neck.... I tried to simulate the stretching of the tendons, and skin over the Sternocleidomastoid muscle. With his head at an extreme angle, this is what would happen (as in my reference) but I went a bit OTT with it, and it doesn't look to stretched, it seems too lose, and flabby. And is also too prominent.
Thanks for the comments.... really appreciate it!

And don't worry I find it hard to speak English some days too..... especially with this damn laptop keyboard! :headbang:

Thanks again!

Hello... long time no post..... wie üblich user added image

Anyway, I have been continuing on with the "Bust" movement... Kicking out Busts whenever I can. I have a couple more done.... not quite as "Monster-of-the-week" as before... more still, good practice.

Unfortunately... I haven't been able to do anything for the new comp, but have spent my time working a portfolio site for myself, it is in no means complete, but as this is my first time doing a website, it will probably take some time.

Anyway, pics:

And a little something different: His name is "Bob".

The first 2 were modeled in Maya (base meshes) and then sculpted in ZB.

"Bob" was sculpted entirely in ZB.

C&C more than welcome!
