problem with materials

hello. i have a problem:
i have combined some objects to one object. then i needed to separate some of them, and after that when i'm assigning material to it, some faces stay black. i tried to assign materials not to the whole object, but to faces of it, but it doesn't work too.

The normals are reversed. Go to Normals>Set to face to fix them.
