newbie question

user added image Just started using maya. My comp is kind of slow

only pent 3 at 800 mhz and 512 mb ram. I just want

to know how to create a glass texture for like a cup.

also I would also like to know a site where they can

teach u how to model simple things. Thanks

Consider books also. There many that are project based. Visit your local bookstore and browse to see if there are any you like. One caution, is that project books tend to make terrible reference later on. If you want some good beginner reference I recommend the visual quickstart series (also reasonably priced as far as computer books go). I like to carry a book with me everywhere, so that If I'm ever stuck waiting on something at least I can still get a little smarter while I wait.

Im working through it now and its an excellent book that covers modelling, rigging and animation techniques. Excellent book for starters.
