Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

specular highlights and specular rolloff, make a specular map and use that to control the shininess.

In order to dirty up the wheels you need to adjust your texture map, assuming you are using one, in photoshop. Look at how a real wheel gets degraded over tim (from what I've seen from rollerblading there's always a really worn part in the middle of the wheel and the outsides get chunks taken out of them) I know it can be a pain to model and texture this but it's worth it cause it will add another level of detail to your model.

Good luck

Great work Iybrid! My only crit, (and this is kind of nitpicking) is the wood texture on the side of the board. A horizontal wood texture that was in layers would complete the look.

Kinda like this, (least thats what my board looked like).

note that the pieces should stretch longer than this before ending.

Hey Blinn, thnx for the texture. The one I have on it, is the only one I could find that actually looked 1/2 way decent. Also, I didnt really care too much about the side of the board, because its sometimes hard to see it because its so thin. Gimme a few, and Ill re-render. user added image
