Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Hi all, not many suggestions from anyone...oh well.
I managed to get in a couple hours after work today. I started working on the mechanics around the wheel, I still have to do the piping and add a ton of bolts in areas (maybe tomarrow). I added a texture to the railway and the wood underneeth...just want everything to look really old and weathered. I also added the little service station (just for interest...I think Im going to make the station look abandoned...maybe boarded up with particle board and two 2x4's nailed in an "x"shape. Not gonna spend too much time on that and the rest of the environment though, cause the competition is on the object...which is the train. This is just a low quality FG render only 500 gather rays at 5 min and 10 max. I wanted to see how the rust was looking ....everything else still has to be textured too.

Your service stadion looks too good compared to your train ( I know the textures will fix alot of that ). I would suggest making your station look as if it were falling apart, but that is just a suggestion.

nice fast modelling and the rust is looking cool user added image
I'd just leave the station for the time being and concentrate on the main object.
Looking forward to more progress user added image
