Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

February Challenge - Speed Machine - shaimon

I'm in.
I want to make steampunk style machine. but i have no idea user added image
Perhaps i will create futuristic and steampunkish machine. maybe.......
I will update concept art soon.

OK. I brought that is prop for My concept art.
Atomizer head part will be used my machine's booster.
and philips razor too. (Of course, It will be deform.)
Body main shape is not determine yet.

Nice - the only thing is the wheel - they do not look as if they are built for speed

Yeah I agree, I would lose the small wheels and perhaps use the cog wheel on the underside if you wanted a wheel - it has a good size for drive, like a drag car has. But obviously make it a tyre and rim and not a cog.

This is perhaps the most imaginative entry so far. I actually like the wheels the way they are. The back wheel could raise and lower for take off and landing.

If you could refine the shape just a tad and detail it to the max, this entry could be hard to beat.

But it doesn't looks like speed machine. looks like a machine gun user added image
so I need to change main shape.

anyway, I made it with nurbs and poly modelling
I try to model with nurbs first time.
i don't like it user added image fix fix fix.....

Widen the trigger a little and put in a vertical Ion engine? I would change the 2 side shapes and maybe make them more wing like?? It really depends on what you want to get out of it mate...terrestrial, air, sub-space/space?

Hey this is a good start! My advice to make it more steam punk would be to expose the rear engines a little like the old WWI bi-planes. Throw in some guide wires and a few extra cogs and bits and you'll have a top notch concept.

An interesting cartoon you might want to look at would be Last Exile. They do an interesting steam-punk type feel that might help for a little inspiration towards adding the finer details to your work.

Anyway, i changed my speed machine body shape.
The previous ones was a part of something new. New body frame concept is Disposable razors.
Now, we have only one week. i'll do my best

really, I'm an old 3ds max user but maya newbie.
maya's UI and nurbs modelling, it's confusing me.
Frankly, I wanted to learn maya nurbs modelling through this challenge.
but yet I should be no skills.
