Converting instanced geography to "actual" geometry?

I have a particle system set up that I've instanced some simple geometry to. I want to then convert the "scene" of instanced geometry back into replicated geometry, or "actual" geometry that I could export as the full spray I'm looking at in Maya.

Looking at the documentation and online, I'm not seeing anything about doing this. Is this even possible?

Any pointers about directions of inquiry or phrases I ought to be using to further investigate would be greatly appreciated.

there is another alternative, although it can get pretty slow. Basically you acutally query each particles position each frame and assign that to a piece of maya geometry. But if u have a lot of particles save often.

"Query particle." Fantastic. That gives me something very concrete to follow up.

Greatly appreciated.
