1:1 planer map

Hi there all,
I figured out what the problem is with UV mapping by using planer map. The problem is this. Say you got this cube. The front side of the cube is 10 units wide, and 12 units high, and the back side of the cube 6 units wide and 9 units high. Now you first planar map the front side with the following settings...

Keep Image Ratio is ticked
Automatically Fit The Projection Manipulator is ticked
Mapping Direction is set to Camera and
Insert Before Deformers is ticked.

After appling those settings, you notice that not only it maps the uv's but it scales it down to fit in the 1:1 image ratio.

Next, you then do the same thing to the back side of the cube with the same settings. You then see that this also scales into the 1:1 image ratio as well. However, you also notice that the projection hieght, and projection widths are not the same size as the front side of the cube which now you got smaller checker boxes on the front side of the cube and larger checker boxes on the back of the cube. So thats why I always get destortions on my textures. Is there a way for Maya not to scale the uv's down into the 1:1 image ratio so that I get one checker board size throughout the entire cube?

Oops,
What I ment to say in my question was this. Is there a way for Maya not to scale the UV's into the 1:1 image ratio while you are mapping all the UV's first? Then when I am finish I could use the Layout UV feature which will scale all the selected UV's into the 1:1 image ratio.

Yes! Use automatic mapping, and tick "less distortion" instead of less peices. Then you stitch together what you can.
