Only a little in lightwave, walk cycle sort of thing but I have read up loads on it should be fun or like having your teeth out LOL, rigging, skin weights and body movement what could go wrong...........dave

Do you have a specific tutorial/book you are planning on working from, or are you going to try and wing it with what you know?

And you have used Lightwave? Was that as a hobby? what made you switch to maya? Is there much difference between lightwave and maya, or is it much the same things just called different names?

Ben I will look at some tutorials for the rigging and waight maps but I will wing the rest. Lightwave and maya are like calk and cheese, I can model a lot faster in lightwave then maya but that is were the problem is in lightwave the freedom you have comes at a price, that price being that what you have modeled does not look as good in lightwave as the same stuff in maya, I wish I could combine the best of the two that would be a sweet package.........dave

Nearly done with the modeling in maya, need to do some displacement maps in photoshop for the grip and wooden bit...........dave

Very nice. Handle details seem very good, the screw needs a little more definition, but i think you already mentioned that.
