Masking fur?

hi, i've made a human like model to which i've mapped and applied the appropriate fur, but how can i remove the fur from the face hands and feet without using the baldness tool, ya see with the baldness artisan tool i can remove the fur but it's way too painstaking and as i'm deleting the fur from the feet....fur from the legs dissapears too, it seems way too inaccurate, so i was wondering if there is a way to select the faces or vertices to delete fur from, i've already tried using the 'Mask' tab in the fur tool options with faces and vertices, but it didn't appear to mask anything, i tried both options (selected&nonselected), am i approaching it wrong?

No probs i've figured it out user added image

all i had to do was select the faces and delete the UV's in the uv tex editor, surprisingly the textures stayed put and the fur uv's were deleted, sorted user added image
