This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

it says it will come out as two separate parts but what if thats what you want for say, a gun with a case or a sword with a sheath??

Cheers Mike!:attn:

With this challenge you have brought me back to simplymaya.com.

I will use a one of 3 character designs im working on I like that it doesnt end till march which means it will give me more time to flush the characters out.

Still waiting to hear on the July/Aug challenge.

Cheers.

I was browsing the videos and one phrase in the Gorrilla tutorial section really stuck out in my mind. "Doom meets King Kong." Why not set up a theme similar to that. Where you combine two completely seperate themes into something new. Of course with a little broader of a idea spectrum, so that we don't all have to model gorrilas.

Perhaps something like;

Sci-fi meets Civil War
Medieval meets Mecha

Stuff along those lines.

Perhaps even something with pirates, almost everyone love pirates. Perhaps it could be to combine the technology of a futuristic sci-fi with the styles of a classic pirate tale. Imagine a mechanical peg leg, or what Cpt. Hook's hook would be made out of in the future. Flying pirate ships could be intersting as well. How would they fly? What would they be made out of? Would they still have sails?

Just a thought, it could be intersting...

You all know you can start now, right? haha

Oh, and there's no "norm" or "noob". Just one winner will be chosen. good luck!

hi Mike
i went to their site and read the requirements for the models,
but is there a file size limit?
how is the winner going to send you the model? email, ftp, physical media [flash drive, cd etc.. ]
at what scale will they be printed?
real life scale, or some other measurments?
my biggest concern is the file size they will accept.
because if people here decide to sculpt their mesh in a sculpting app, then file size might go up to 50-100 meg for multi million poly meshes.

thanks.

Very good points, when I get back from vacation, I'll discuss them all. The file size limit is 10 mb! I'll be sure to make the necessary changes to the rules next week when I get back.

This sounds like an awsome challenge to enter. I believe I will have to enter this one. I have a couple of ideas in mind.
