This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

i mean you don't have a background to cast shadows onto. also your light is pretty much face on.

I downloaded the scene and the ambient light you had there was making the shadows look weird. At this point the only real use I think ambient lights have is to assist in modeling. and . If you insist on using an ambient light, disable shadows on it, that's what's causing the issue. And your jpeg is not posting probably because it exceeds the 200kb cap this forum has, instead you can use an image hosting site like imageshack or photobucket etc, cause I can't see your images because I don't and probably never will have a Myspace account :p

Look at the edges of the shadows that are on the face itself. I've deleted the ambient light completely. There is but a single spotlight and the problem areas remain. I have tried changing the material, same result.

That.s really weird. I changed the material as well (to a blinn) and I didn't have any issues.

So you're saying when you render it comes out different from mine? Can I see?

Oh and thanks for what you are trying to do here.

Lol no problem. This is what I got from disabling raytraced shadows on the ambient light and changing the phongE to a blinn (with 0 reflectivity of course)

The problem was stemming from the spotlight itself, I had some setting way out of whack. A new spotlight cleared things up. I'm thinking the filter size may have been the culprit.user added image

Now on to my next step, I have been able to export to ZBrush. Problem is getting it BACK to maya. I'm not seeing an export obj FROM ZBrush...user added image

i thought you just click "export" at to top of the Tool menu on the right there and it comes up with the save dialog and you can only export as an obj user added image

where are you looking to export the tool as an obj?

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"
