Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

I see what you mean jay, good description of the area. The image I overlayed was a touched up photo of someone stood up so maybe that person had a lower than normal angle user added image
I think the shine on the top of the leg/hip section makes the area more pronounced and just made it jump out at me.

The change you've made makes a big difference (in my eyes) user added image

I thought you'd be onto the abdomen, but just in case, I thought I'd put my two cents worth in.

Where you going with this Jay?

what's the project? Is this a game? A movie we are all privy to? Or simply fantastic art??

No, hes working on a graphic novel.

It looks to me that the area under the navel is a bit flat. maybe from the orthographic view.

Nice changes Jay!

Tick: Well you pointed it out so it needed a second look, thanks again, and it does look better, myself and a couple of the guys here at work are in agreement too!!

Mirek: The abdomen is almost there but as I said I'll do the extra once its all joined. She will have clothes so Im not going over the top. The model is for a large project and as Nextdesign has said is a graphic Novel in 3d. Im currently revamping the site so theres nothing to show you right now. but if you go to my blog as listed down the bottom here you can see a piece of new concept art...

as for being lost, please show me the way as I havent a clue:bandit:

Tim: I make mistakes just like the next guy.

Next design: The protrusion of the pelvis is rectified. As it was stated a few posts ago. The curve or curves of that area depends on the build of the person. See Falotts comments regarding people and Supermodels. It was a subtle yet effective fix. If you are regarding the hips from the side view again I'll rectify once the mesh is merged as the curve of the SDs will change greatly from the centre

Later
Jay

concerning supermodel/average people I´d consider subtracting some mass from parts of the body in case this model is meant to have a "hyperrealistic" touch allthough it´s comic style. If you have a close look at very goodlooking women like celebs/models/stars etc, a certain undernourishment is to determine - and peoples eyes are very used to this kind of silhuette. this matter of fact stands in harsh discrepancy to anatomy we model most time - a perfect and ideal shape of a body. nobody can tell exactly but we might have the impression of something´s no quite right.

parts where this kind of too much geometry appears are the hip, legs and breasts. especially thigh and calv area are to take care of.

here is a random selection of real fine women with big tits and sexy outfit from googleSearch. but if you whatch their legs only a funny giggle is hard to suppress, cause they look like from Äthiopia with white skin. nevertheless - no one takes notice of that in a concious way but when it comes to modeling we just notice that there is something wrong, tho couldn´t say what.

cheers!

the patella from your geo is a bit too boxy. should be more like a pyramid upside down, cause the knee leads into the tibia like a root. I found a cool ref for this area.

edit: hope you don´t mind me spamming your thread with google pics..
