Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

I carry on the modelling as you carry on chatting.....LOL
Was not going to do buckles but was forced to for some of the other tools that only had them to keep them strapped to the tank, will have a better (occ) render later.........dave

Edit:I would not call these extra Jay as they where the standard kit issued with the Sherman possibly from the factory

There a free occlusion render tutorial on this site, I use a render layer for this and with the help of Jay got better results, if you look back on this post you will see what Jay suggested......sorry a bit short had to meny beers...........dave

Nearly there only one more thing to fix then the track, updates towing eyes, gun mount holder, return rollers and fender...........dave

My first run through with part of the tank track,these parts are not smooth as I am having to count my polys now (graphic card). I think it looks good for a start.........dave

Edit:the middle box is just there for the spacing, going to add a little bevel on the parts on the out side of the track

yeah i imagine these renders are taking longer than the modeling updates. haha.

you can always go back and reduce the number of polys on certain things. I hope you have been doing UVs as you go, I find the UV process can really take the momentum out of a project sometimes.
This is looking really good, keep at it!

I think render times are around 7 mins LOL, I did plan on UVing as I went along but got stuck into modelling will give it a try see how I go. I have tried to keep the poly count low on most part and not use smoothing were I could (not much manly nut heads).I think it should be OK in the end only time will tell, just added bevels to this part of the track to make it stand out better.........dave
