Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
tis looking very cool arran, for the tube i'd suggest creating a curve in the general shape of the hose, then creating a nurbs circle at the end. select the circle and the curve and use the surfaces extrude option.
To animate the hose you could use joints though it would probably look better with soft body dynamics. Unfortunately i don't know how to set those up.
hope that was helpful, looking forward to seeing this guy in action
For the hose soft bodies can be a right pain to set up, especially if your suing springs for the object to move bask into place as they are quite volotile.
If you hae unlimited try using a hair folicle as that should do the trick nicely, if not you might have to do a load of joints and a IK handle to have some decent control over the movement
I don't know much about computers so I spent quite a bit of time trying to wade through the information. I was going to get a Boxx, as my experience with them has been very positive, but then I kept reading that Boxx and Alienware (and others) build their laptops on Sager models, so I ended up getting a Sager NP9750 - V.

I bought it from discountlaptops.com - they seemed very helpful and well priced.
It should arrive on Monday, but I am doing overtime all next week so it will have to wait.:headbang:
That looks like a nice laptop. The only things that I would watch out for are the ATI graphics card which I have heard some people recommend against, and maybe the screen size.
I was going to go with a Intel originally, but a lot of the reviews seemed to favour AMD. This article on Intel and AMD dual cores was pretty helpful:
Yeah man the ATI on that, apparantly, is the same as one of the fire cards thats reccommended by alias so i'd be hoping its ok, i'd be running it through a monitor at home so the screen size, hopefully, shouldent be an issue.
Just wish AMD would get some dual cores out designed for laptops so I an have a good look before jumping on to what could be a lesser technology.
I have an ATI card (actually a gaming card, a Raedon Xstacy 9000 256 mag) and it screws up with maya. In fact, because of it, I can't use Maya anymore because of frequent crashes :angery:
