Thanks to the people who helped me with the 1st version. Changing the light setup did much to make it look less flat. Here is the new version.

looks like Blobby Surface particles. user added image

fountain

The fountain is a revolved surface. The water, as someone pointed out, are blobby surfaces. The surface of the still water in the fountain is a plane, with appropriate texture.
