how to make a hole in a rounded polygon

Hello

For two days I am trying to do this, but I can't find a way!

I want to cut a hole in this rounded polygon, as to make a place to put flowers inside. So it has to have a small wall and a hole.

How would you do this??

Please, give me a hint!

Thank you
Daniel

yup, carefully split the poly to form the edges and then edtrude them down. ALternatively you could just select the faces and scale and extrude them but I fear you may get crappy results if you do that. You could also try a boolean but again you run the risk of crappy results.
