Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

hmmm, came out a bit funny this one...

I think the fur colour is definately looking better (really low quiality shadows at the minute just for speed rendering)
Dont know why the shadows have come out like that though.
The fur below the nose has also come out a bit poor.
I'm going to run a few more renders off tomorrow and see what is happening.

EDIT: Just realised that this is my thousand'th post - that came up quickly!

thanks matt the man user added image

I've been playing with the settings lots and have had some difficulties with the lighting and strengths. I think I know what it is now although the render here is before I put those changes into effect user added image

I'm gonna soften some of the fur at the back and try and tidy up the length at the back of the mouth. Other than that its a little playing with light and fur colour and render it out.

This is great fun but would be better with a faster machine!

Yes, this has really come together. Well done! The way that you have handled the fur is really effective.

I can't put my finger on it, but you have definitely managed to give your model some polar bear authenticity if you know what I mean. I think it is in his mouth - you have really captured the 'smile' that you think you see in an animal when they open their mouths. sorry - i am not making much sense.

Great work - this is going to be a really tough one to judge.user added image

cheers guys, I really appreciate the encouragement user added image

I'm still learning mmoore5553, LOADS more to learn yet user added image

arran - the mouth's the bit I'm currently happiest with so thanks for confirming it user added image

Jay - I think it was on the medium setting (and that took 1h 28m on my piddly laptop user added image ) duude setting is tempting though...

I'm playing with fur colouring now to get rid of that cold, dead look:
Gonna leave a big render going tonight so in the meantime here's my polarbear trying to be a sheep user added image

Thanks jay user added image

I'd be happy to do a shave and haircut tutorial once I've figured it out more user added image I'm saving up for Zbrush at the minute but if you twist my arm enough then I could swap it for a full version of shave and a haircut user added image
Not gonna change much - just a bit of touchup to remove the grid and address the nose shininess. I also spotted that the skin on the edge of the ear is showing through and is looking a bit too grey.

Cheers magicsy, thanks for the point about the nose - I upped the specular on it but as you say it looks a little too shiny now.

really nice comin on loads, i dunno about the mouth area though, the mouth modeling n texture looks sweet but just the way they bleed into the fur looks kinda unnatural.
Well done
