Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Dirt on a poly-wall ?

I would like to map a dirt map on th elower part of a brick wall where the dirt map is semi-transparetn
I know UV sets are involved and also UV linking but I cant seem to find more help on how to approach it.

It might be easier to just put another poly in front of the wall and put your dirt texture on that with a transparency map.

I do that for some of the models I'm working on at the office. Seems to work fine.

Just remember to turn off cast shadows (as that may not be what you want)
