Roll of Paper

Hey,

I'm trying to model a roll of paper, where the paper eventually moves in one direction, just like a toiler paper roll for example.

How would I go about doing that?

I'm not sure if this is a modeling or animation question, so I'm just posting it here user added image

Thanks.

sounds like a cylinder shape to me... not sure exactly what you're asking.

Hmm lets see ...

I'm trying to model a seismograph, if thats any help.

I want to be able to pull the paper out of the roll , so technically there would be unlimited paper on that roll.

Hard to explain. Hope you get it?

how do you want the paper pulled out ? dynamicly ? or keyfraimed ?

I would guess keyframes. Maybe have an expression for the translation attribute of the paper over time or something.

How would I do it dynamically?

not a simple task.
but stay away from dynamics in this case.
your best bet is to use clusters and somehow is to set driven key them on a "roll attribute.... adding a lattice might smooth the overall look of the "paper rolling" beware of order of the deformers though.
sory i cannot elaborate more on this. but this sounds pretty interesting. waiting to see how u resolve this. pls post when u do user added image :headbang: :saywhat:
