Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

The hands look a little weak with those spindly fingers.
Are you going to normal map a low poly version?

yo

Yo dude i really like your model looks cool, but he has no teeth i think he needs some to look more evil if thats what u r wonting but atm he looks kinda wise id say.
I wos wondering if theres anyway u could do a in depth tutorial of this model or were i can find one simialar explain how to model a character to rig and animate and also has fur.
Im new to maya and am trying to find a tutorial (video) that goes through a quite complex model from start to finish, cos atm ive done a few models but othing challenging, just a dog and cartoon frog.
If anyone else know were i can get a free tutorial from start to finsh with modeling, texture, rigging, fur etc pls tell me cos i wot a challenge.
I wish i had enough money for the yeti vid =(
Anyways nice one.

Thanks jhubbard, I can only say try the free tuts here and scrap some money together and get 'The Game Artist's Guide to Maya' by Micheal Mckinley (aka: mtmckinley)

The book will put you in the right direction.

I will also try and do a step by step in this thread, to help.

ohh the teeth will be added last on to the low poly mesh, I wasn't really going for mean, more like happy go lucky.

ok cool i may buy that book Micheal Mckinley seem like a pretty cool guy who knows maya well + his tutorials r really good (free ones) cos i dwloaded all the ones i could off here.
If u got the time ca u just explain what + why u do the low meduim high poly meshs, i know polys hurt hardware i put like 1000000 on a model n my pc made squeeky noises when i span around, but whats the basic idea of using different poly meshs?
Thanks

Hey Dae

Excellent choice for a game model, not seen a ww before for a game. The design is very much like the ones from the Dog Soldiers movie and very similar to Anubis warriors from the Mummy movies.

Look forward to the rest

Jay
