How to make poly hair follow the human hairline?

Hi,

I am trying to make realistic hair like they did in the movies without the use of painteffects because it slows down my computer. So I have decided to make hair out of poly planes which I plan to soften it ALOT then put the procedual shader on it.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to have planes follow the hairline of the human model? Do I need to make a separate bowl shape head to put the poly plane hair on it?
Merge vertice to attach it to the bowl shape head?

If anyone knows of such solution, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

never did hair. but if, I´d create a separate geometry for the hair. just duplicate the model and delete all faces exept the part of the head you put hair on. you might parent it to the head/joints/whatever then.

everything starts and ends in the right place at the right time.

1. Make the head live, draw the nurbs curves to suited, loft and covert to poly?
or
2. Snap vertices along head mesh
