saving as obj?

Hi.

I need to save on memory and turn my complicated model into an Object file (obj) so i can import it again just as a point of reference.

Can any one possibly suggest how i can do this?

I have tried: save as- model_obj

But this didn't seem to work, it just saved my hi-res model as it is and no as a solid object which is what i am after.

Thank you for your help user added image

you might have to combine your mesh to create a single obj then export it as an obj object. [sometimes you dont have to based on the export options you choose] but i would export then create a new scene and import that obj and save the scene as something like objName_reference then simply reference that scene in your animation scene. that would make things easier, because any changes you make in the referenced scene will reflect immediately in your animation scene.
