scale according to its axis?

i have create a shape in maya, but later on i notice the tip is not long enough, but when i want to scale it up, it scale up in the other direction....pls help T_T

You need to choose the scale mode. Double click on the scale tool, and change the mode to local, normal, etc; until you get the desired effect.

Also, of you used 'freeze transformations', changing scale mode iirc won't help a bit in this case, so you might wanna rotate pivot point. After you rotate pivot point correctly, you will be able to scale it properly.

how do you rotate pivot point in maya, i google it still no solution, thanks....
