Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Very nice Dave. One of the best looking M4 models I have ever seen. Extremely good job on the textures.

Thanks Guys you are very kind
At some point I will need to create a correction layer in photoshop at the moment I have a occlusion layer comming up from a bottom layer but all the mud and dirt are stopping it so when I have done with the dirt I will create a layer mask of the occlusion for the dirt only...........dave

Its not as bad as it looks I have combined the pin sections but it does mean I have to select and move UVs 78 time, oh what fun..................dave

What's your approach to painting going to be, and did that inform your layout?

I am guessing you could overlap the track sections as well Dave.

A bit the same as the main tank but a little different I will do 2 occlusion bakes one with only the track and another with track, hull and wheels these I will use for the colour and dirt maps (photoshop layer mask). The bakes are done at 4k but will most likely bump them up to 8k then add a little blur to get rid of the grainness. The way I layed out the UVs was the best to paint in photoshop thats were the occlusion realy comes in handy you can see were the high lighted areas are, any thing that does not look right will be fixed in mudbox............dave

Edit:Yes I know Rick but it does create problems, look at the main tank at the front nuts all the same colour (will fix)
