This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Attribute Editor: Hardware Texturing: Texture Channel

Hi people,

i kinda feel silly for asking this but in a tutorial i'm told to assign a ramp texture to the transparency of a material and then hit 6 to show textures in the workspace

but the transparency texture doesn't show up so the tutorial says to go to the Hardware Texturing part of the attribute editor for the material and change the Texture Channel drop down box to Transparency

the problem is... the only item in the drop down box is "none"

i didn't think this part would have been changed throughout versions...

so how do i see my transparency texture in the workspace?

i just restarted maya after telling it to load all the plugins (since mental ray option for rendering had vanished too) and it shows up now
