Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

I think youve made a good start, but theres a few things I feel thats not so Dredd.

The face itself is to soft looking, dredd is more chisled and bulkier, and his default expression is more of a 'Fff' kind of look. I think also the Body and hand are too skinny, so bulk him up lots! Lastly the gold shoulder pads need to be thicker as does the badge. Remember this is Dredd and hes a bad ass!!

Check Out Simon Bisleys web site at https://www.simonbisleyonline.com/gallerydredd.htm

Hes the Master at doing the Dredd stuff in my opinion. I have Judgement on Gotham here in front of me (do you have it?) Dredd and Batman go up against Judge Death, damn cool.

Cheers
Jay

Dredd

Hi Jay,
Thanks for your reply and remarks, I think your right on all accounts.
So I will need to go back and put some character into it and make it more stylized rather than humanly correct.
I used a Daz Michael 3 character for helping with placement of uniform items, so I’m going to have to model the head myself.
I’m also going to have to get into the attic and get my comics out for reference. I stopped buying it at prog 500.

I use to read 2000AD like mad when I was younger so I would be pleased to see this turn out well.

I don't pretend to know anywhere near as much as Jay though user added image

dredd

Same here dude.
I used to love it and was a major inspiration in my learning to become an illustrator. I used to draw Dredd all the time and it’s from those early drawing days that I remember he so well.
Though I have to say he’s character has changed so much since the Bolland days. I looked at the comic a while ago and I have to say the artwork has generally gone down hill.

Maybe it took too much time or money to do it the old way. Shame, but that's they way many things are going nowdays.

Still, while there are still fans trying their best it can only grow and get better.

LOL ,Im not professing I know a great deal of Dredd, Im just going by the look of the comics to the look of the model, just an observation thing which we are all capable of really.

I guess your right, if you have eyes you can be a critic.

lol. Unfortunately my observations are 20 years old. I remember the good old days of using Rotering pens and Bristol board now it’s all painter and Adobe Illustrator, which I must say I much prefer, it’s a lot less mess.
