Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

New tut - missed op

Am I the only one who thinks that the new tut should have also explained how to texture and light the room.
Lets face it - a project like that is sold on the final render

I`m going by the parts info but none of them say they cover these areas. A good lighting tut is needed here I think, and the renders look nice, but the tut seems to only cover modelling (again).

The second half of the tutorial covering texturing, lighting and rendering will be on the site later this week, it's set to go out on Friday. Thanks for your interest and support!

Thanks for pointing this out tweetytunes, it should have been mentioned on the tutorial page that we were putting out the texture, lighting and rendering part later this week but it wasn't. Fixed it now though.

Also we agree with you, we're working at the moment on getting more tutorials covering other things than modeling out there.

I did look but could not see anything in the "Announcements" or the "SM Movie Tutorials" section of the forum - where was it ???

Also the words "This tutorial is complete" at the bottom of the page was also miss leading

And yes Miss_Nova - who are you ??? Sneaking on to the forum with your inside information (HEHE)

The tutorial should have been mentioned on the forum, my bad, will remember to do so next time.

As for the tutorial being complete, it was released as "Interior Design - Modeling Tutorial" and in this sense complete. What we forgot to write is that we're adding another one on the texturing, lighting and rendering, which was corrected so it should be fairly clear now.

I did indeed not introduce myself yet so hello everyone, my name is Nilla and I'm the new site admin replacing David for a few months as he's on a leave of absence. No more sneaking around, I promiseuser added image

The tutorial should have been on the site already, but there were some problems with the video that needed to be fixed.

I'm working on it now and it shouldn't take too long, hopefully we'll have it out this evening and for certain by tomorrow morning
