Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

that would be provided that between the 2 people that all aspects could be achieved. Because this idea of a group battle would take about 4-5 people to complete each one. Modeler, texture(could be combined with modeling job), rigger, animator, effects (lighting etc.).

So a 2 on 2 battle would require each person to have 2-3 of these skills at their disposal.

Well this example wouldn't necessarily need all aspects... just try a still image with a modeller and a texturer/lighter/renderer.

Challenge: Create a character in an environment on the topic of heros or villains. The modeller models the character and hands it off to the texturer while they model the environment. The lighter textures and lights the environment while the modeller offers support from the sidelines. I dunno, just get something going.
Duration, two weeks?

New challenge posted here https://simplymaya.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37327

The theme is extremely broad so it's open for pretty much anything, it can be about lighting/dynamics/animation rather than modeling for anyone who wants. Just don't want to post a challenge that excludes modeling because not sure anyone would join user added image

Also if anyone wants to join forces and collaborate on a project I don't see why not, like mentioned above just not sure how you'd organize a team challenge. But it would be cool.

I don't really have time to participate in any challenges but thought you all might like this.

https://www.udk.com/showcase-amazing-one-texture

It shows what a developer did with only one 256x512 texture. Could make for an interesting challenge. Create a scene and use only one texture of a certain specified size.

How is all of that really in only one small texture file that is incredible though I don't know if I necessarily believe it. I would like to see the actual texture file

looks more like he had to use 2

https://www.torfrick.com/info/lab.html

did you read the article? He mentions a few things he tried. But as you say.. a shame he doesn't show the texture files

He does share his UDK files though it seems (I dont have the Unreal stuff so I can't see what is actually in the rar file).

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Yeah, it is hard to believe but the idea sounds like a cool challenge I think.

I would think there would have to be better understanding or a tutorial on this, cause I don't really get it either, so I think you'd have a hard time getting participants for a challenge. Otherwise you'll just get a bunch of tiled entries looking like wallpaper... haha.
