Tri-pod Mech

Hey guys, I'm back messin around with maya and working on a tri-pod mech.
I was gaciously provided with a concept sketch from a good friend Luciano.

I've still not decided what it's function is going to be in the end. The end of it could be many things, a laser cutter/welder, a drill, turned into saws, guns etc.

I just started the modeling yesterday and am still confused as to how I want several parts to look so I've roughed in the overall shape of the beast and am using that to build off of, add detail, and define parts.

Most definitely not when you start looking for jobs and the local market says "hey you! USE MAYA"
haha. Anywho, did some tv watching tonight, so work and progress updates tomorrow.

Been working on more of the leg, mostly on getting constraints setup and making sure things are moving correctly and modeled to move correctly.

I haven't seen much recently no. but that is just a TINY piece of the whole system too. Just adding constraints and cleaning up my outliner is taking one hell of a long time and I'm not even done the modeling yet.

Cheers and thanks for the shout-outs.

Well another bit of an udate for the moment.
I am trying to focus on the feet at the moment so I have started adding a bunch of the detail to it. In the name of wires for the most part right now.
Anywho, lots more to come but I thought i'd give up a little preview.

Cheers, and enjoy:attn:

Make a curve, and a nurbs circle. Then extrude the circle along the curve.
If you want to edit the wire at any point then you just move the cvs of the curve or change the size of the circle.
It is really very easy.

Cheers.

with all the wires you're modeling, how many of them will be visible in renders? some of those shots look like they're looking inside the model where nothing will actually show up - i only bring it up cause lots of modelers nowadays tend to still model stuff that will never be seen (like modeling the whole body and then modeling clothes to go over them without cloth simulation), and it's kind of a waste of time...

Unfortunately the wires are what make up a lot of the density of the joints and limbs. All I did was close up from different points on it so you can see things. Fortunately a lot of the bulk does not need any detail which is making things a lot easier. But still, the concept is to have a BUNCH of wires which tedious at times, looks pretty damn cool. Too bad I haven't been at the computer too much to work on anything, let alone this awesome project.
