Translate tool problem

Can someone help? I'm an animation student and until this semester, I've never used Maya. Anyway, when I select my objects to move, when I move them they go at different speeds. It's the same with the Rotate tool, so it gets distorted. How can this be fixed? Thank you in advance.

I made a post in my Maya FAQ for this problem -> Models Distort When Rotated. Hope that helps!

I had a question. Do you mean outliner as in the Hypergraph?

The Outliner and Hypergraph and two different things, you can currently find the Outliner under the Window menu set at the top of the UI.
