This is the best place I've come across......

https://planetpixelemporium.com/planets.html

He's got all of the planets and some of the moons in the solar system all ready to wrap onto spheres.

As well as colour maps, there are bump maps which is really handy and for Earth there's even a cloud layer, specular layer and city lights layer.

The 1k images are free and adequate for but if you need a higher resolution you have to pay a small price for the 2k images.

There are loads of sites which will show you the orbits the planets take, it's not quite as straight forward as you might imagine though.

Scaling the planets would probably benefit from a little artistic license as would the orbits they take and the relative speeds they travel.

Good luck with whatever you make, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Two problems thus far

1) how does one add the specurlarity map? (ive never dealed with them before)

2) When i add the cloud transparancy map the clouds become black, and not at all transparent, but i dont know why?

Is the transparany issue simply a matter of reversing the colours?

They aren't too hard to make I would assume. From memory, Phobos and Deimos are roughly potato shaped, 20 - 40 km in diameter. I would include them, cause those two moons is where the events of Doom take place... user added image
