Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

.fbx unknown file error...

I've grabbed some simple meshes from turbosquid which are mostly in .max format. I need to get them into Maya.. I've read that the best format to use is .fbx but I get an 'unknown file format' error when I try to import them into Maya.

I run Maya on os x. i've opened the .max files in xp(as far as I understand, max only runs on windows) I've downloaded all the exporter plugins for max and maya that I think I need. I've tried converting the .fbx file using the AD converter but nothing works.

I'm at a loss to know what to do..?

help!
