Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

If you can't select an object you may have accidentally changes the display attribute to R (reference) or T (template). If you turn either one of these on, you won't be able to do anything to the object.

About the vertice that is jumping out. I have no idea what that is but you might be able to select it and manually move it back into position.

I have tried manually selecting the vertices and that was a no go.

As far as selecting goes I can select the objects. I just can't select "new" Objects when I have the scale, rotate, or transform tools activated.
