Poly modeling - straight lines

I'm modeling my synth and is wondering how you usually poly model a thing that's not organic? I find that I get a lot of lines that need to be parallell and it's alomst impossible to get them parallell as you can see in the screenshot. Any hints would be much appreciated.

Cut Faces tool is pretty handy for straight lines. Otherwise, I use snap align often.

Oh, never seen Cut Faces Tool before, that could come in handy. Thanks for the tip!

Snap align? You mean like snap to grid? Or some other tool? Where is that in that case?

If you hold v for point snap, but click and drag on the arrows, rather than the center of the handle, you can align to point rather than snap to point.
