This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

OK everybody, I have things straightened out now. It was quite a journey. I bought a new PC just before Xmas. Just after the holidays the thing starts crashing on me all over the place. BSODs one after the other. After some digging it turns out it's not really a new PC but a refurb. Of course I went back to the shop and after some negotiation I get another PC, really new this time. But evidently it takes me another effort to get everything installed. That's behind me now and today I started working again on the winter challenge. Hopefully I can show some progress tomorrow.

Stay tuned !!

Thanks man, good to be back. The more time I spend on this modelling stuff, the more I like it.

Anyway, I got the hedgehog back in shape using fur and baking the pattern into the quills. But it doesn't show that well because I use a lower density fur as you can see on the picture.

Fine with me. I'll move on to the rabbit and the golf course. Still time to do some fine tuning later on.

C&C more than welcome.

I worked a bit on the rabbit. I'm not too thrilled about the result so far. The color combination of the shirt and the jacket doesn't turn me on and the fur needs more work too.

Anyway, it's some progress. Let me know what you think.

Two souls, one thought arran. I was already working on that.
This is what I came up with. I like it much better than the blue shirt. The print on the shirt is providing a clue where this whole thing is going.

Let me know what you think user added image

looking good. i might change the t-shirt background color to white and maybe give the red shirt it's own geometry though...

Doesn't look bad at all. Perhaps the logo comes up a bit bleak now. The red shirt already has its own geometry, I put it separate in the picture.

Let me know what you think.

yeah - that looks better. user added image

I guess then i think the shirt should have more of a defined distinct shape - especially around the collar where it seems too close.

I see what you mean. Some tightness probably is OK as the stretch of the shirt will cause that. But I'll see if I can create some "comfort" in that area.

After some tweaking I decided to give the white shirt its own geometry as well. Gave the best results in loosening the collar.

What do you think ?
