Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

yeah - definitely keep the fire escape on the right - it leads the eye into the picture. i might add something on the wall on the left - maybe a poster?

Yeah, I've been wondering what I should put on that wall too, I've been thinking it'll have to be something not overly detailed so it doesn't distract too much from the focus of the picture, but big enough to even out the overall amount of detail spread across the image...

Have to give it some more thought, I had thought of graffiti, but I don't really want to have a large piece of art spread across the wall, maybe posters would be the way to go.
I also thought about putting the entrance to a garage there.
So many choices! lol!

Hmm, maybe, I could have the door slightly open to show that too, and there isn't any other open doors in the scene so that might be a good idea, cheers Hammer!

That’s really cool, i don’t know why but the environment is starting to remind me of " LEFT for Dead " the game user added image

You know what would look so awesome if u pose one of the Smiler characters eating someone on one of those stairs Balcones.

mmmm yummy :p

Thought I'd post a link to a larger version this time, nearing the end of the modelling stage I think, so it'll be onto the Uv mapping soon....can't wait....lol

...I'm so envious of you user added image

Looks really good, should look great once it's textured.

Good luck with the UVs!

Cheers Steve,

Haha, you can do the Uv's for me if you want.....lol!

Hope I manage to do it justice with the texturing!

Chirone,

Yeah, the fences are real geo, I tried out doing it with a plane, with an alpha for the gaps in the fence plugged into transparency, but compared with real geo it just didn't look as good.
I'm at just over half the poly limit of half a million I set myself for the whole scene, so not really a problem at the moment. Still got some Air con units to put in the windows, and a couple of other bits and bobs to put in there, but I doubt I'll get over 300000 polys by the time the modelling is all finished.
If that's the case I might add a couple more Smilers into the scene, just have to see how it goes, and whether it looks better or worse with more of them in there.

Just finished texturing the "Badass guy", thought I'd get all the characters textures done so I can work out what colours will look good around them.

More to come soonish....

And so the texturing begins....

Have got a few bits done, will need more work on the brickwork to mix it up a bit, but am quite pleased with how the ground has turned out so far.

Here's one with Sun and Sky added, the settings were a bit messed up as I didn't take the time to play about with them yet, will try and post a better one at some point. I'm leaving the lighting til last, and won't be using S&S for the final image (for once...lol)
