Apache vs. Comanche

Hiya

Since i don't like the apache I decided to model an RAH 66 Comanche. Ok,Ok....I thought it would be easier to model, but with every look at my ref pics I find something new to cause some headache.

One thing is for sure - to achive something compared to the Apache from the tut will be a hard job - but someone has to do it..hehe

cheers

again

did some tweaking on the tailrotor and builded the gearbox with hatches. Since i want it to take off from the ground, i need a detailed and animated landing gear. Took forever to punch out the holes in the hull and fit in the hatches. As a result of inserting and deleting geometry the hull completly screwed up to a hell of a mess.
So i had to spend again quite some time to fix it :headbang:

But i think it's worth the effort. Opening the rocketbays and showing what his mama gave him will be soo cool user added image

update

Tailrotor and maingun done so far. Somehow tricky, the frontpart of the gatlinghousing is moving to the point where the pilot aims while the backpart ist fixed. As I go on with this model, my respect for the people who invented this fine piece of tec grows more and more. Seems that they thought about everything. Did you know that the exhaust temperature is only 45 ° C ? There is an aircondition which cools them down. So no chance for a heatguided missile..except at the northpole...hehe

The mainrotor is just a test and will be removed....tomorrow user added image

I like it Mac - lean & mean!

Is it just me or have you reduced the length of the main rotor blades in your turntable vid? Also apart from the modeling challenge (if that isn't enough) what are your plans for this little beauty?

plans&rotors

Well, you are right, the rotorblades are shorter, but i measured it out. They are that short. The ones in the pic are just a test and eyeballed but look better in my opinion. Maybe i take the freedom to step aside from correct measures and make them longer, just for beauty aspects.

Plan is to do a short film with it. I am working on the storyboard besides modelling. Sure, would be better to have the storyboard ready before modelling, but since i am a one man army i have to take care of everything and time is short.
So this will take a while user added image
