Very Basic Noob question

Hi everyone,
New to Maya modeling. Created a high poly character in Zbrush- brought it into Maya to retopo. Have created half the mesh but trying to create the mouth bag seems a bit weird (my lack of knowledge, not Maya). How can I connect the polygons/verts/edges so the mouthbag is closed?
